Ralph Victory presented his credentials as Ambassador of Ireland to the Republic of Portugal to H.E. President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa on 17 September 2019. He has also been nominated as Ambassador-Designate of Ireland to the Kingdom of Morocco, the Republic of Angola, the Republic of Cabo Verde and the Republic of Guinea-Bissau.
He previously served as Director of the Communications Unit at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Dublin. The Unit’s role is to promote and facilitate external communication at all levels of the Departmentand Ireland's Diplomatic Missions abroad in support of the Government’s foreign policy and international development objectives.
Also previously assigned as Press & Information Officer atIreland’s Embassy in Washington D.C.(also covering U.S. immigration policy issues), his other roles have included extensive work in relation to the Northern Ireland peace process and assignments at Ireland’s Permanent Representation to the E.U.in Brussels, in Political Division at the Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade and as Deputy Head of Mission at Ireland’s Embassy in Warsaw, Poland.
Ralph holds Masters degrees in Strategic Communications (American University, Washington D.C.) and International Relations (Dublin City University) and also a Bachelor of Commerce (Management) degree from University College Dublin. He is married to Karen and they have 4 children. In 2017, he completed the Dublin City Marathon.
